During the last two weeks of December, I immersed myself in preparation for Project 2010-Designing Your Year of Success. This three-day workshop has been a force in my life since the idea began to take form mid-year 2009. The last 14 days have been filled with reading books, news articles and publications as I strategized the format for this coming weekend. I re-connected with some of my favorite authors and businessmen and women, but also discovered new writers and motivators whose philosophies and ideas weren’t new to me; however, their presentation of the subjects were. It was exhilarating to be in the mindset of a student and each day I looked forward to the knowledge I would absorb and the renewed and rejuvenated spirit I was experiencing. And even with all of this energy zinging about, I found myself very connected to home. I wanted to stay home and cook meals vs. going out to the lovely restaurants NYC has to offer. This desire lead me to a large de-clutter project of my kitchen, which in turn will result in friends having their choice of wine decanters (did I really need 10). I’ve NEVER been excited about spending time in the kitchen, but now I’ve created something inviting. I exercised 10 out of the 14 days and developed a practice that integrates seamlessly into my day. Somehow my apartment expanded in size to include room for cardio equipment! Every time I finished a workout, my mind was expanded and clear and my energy levels were increased. But the best part of the last two weeks has been my reading and writing for enjoyment vs. my working on the Daily Dash and upcoming book. Don’t get me wrong, my passion for the Dash and book are deep, but the time I dedicate for inspirational reading and journaling are gifts to me. What I realized yesterday, as I settled in for the night, was although I thought the only thing I had accomplished during the last two weeks was the creation of a fabulous workshop, in fact I had discovered the life balance I had been trying to force for months. Without knowing it, I had released control as to the how and just allowed myself the journey of self-discovery.

With this new year and decade comes the desire to receive all of our dreams and ideas ~ the very things we so richly deserve and should command and demand. What we forget is the process of receiving and how the very law of increase requires that in order to receive we have to give back ~ to others and to ourselves, while trusting and knowing that we do indeed deserve the good which is entering our lives. More often than not, we are all EXCELLENT at giving. During the holiday season, it comes out in full force; we want to give to everyone. However, if we don’t replenish our energy and spirit we feel depleted and what we are able to give lacks the zeal, clarity and power that inspires. Giving back to ourselves is as easy as treating ourselves to lunch, a new pair of shoes, or setting up “me” time where we read, meditate, write or exercise. There’s nothing selfish about giving ourselves gifts and what results is an increased energy for giving, which opens the pathway for receiving.

I started 2010 with a new practice of giving myself the first hour of the day to read and journal. My spirit instantly rewards me with a creative path for the day. I’m not worried about how to find the time because I know the consciousness behind the meaning of time is left up to me. I’m centered on knowing that there is more than enough time for me to get done what I NEED to accomplish for the day. With clarity and peace of mind, I am more focused and don’t have the distractions of lack (not believing I can “fit it in”). We never know when or how “a ha” moments will enter our lives; however, it does begin with being open and aware to receive them. Now is the time to discover your balance and begin this new year of you with outstretched arms and say, “This is my time to shine on.”
