Words to Inspire, Support and Motivate the Creation of Your Empowered & Dynamic Life Design

Humanity's misfortune is when we don't realize the very gifts we are! We don't serve the rest of the world or ourselves by playing small. Live your life big! Own your truth! We must embrace the knowing that we deserve to live a life we love, one that supports who and what we are. We need to be willing to say, 'Yes! I choose me!'

  • How Dare You!

On January 15, 2004, William Hung walked into the American Idol audition and announced to Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell, “I want to make music my living”. After performing Ricky Martin’s, “She Bangs”, Simon dismissed William’s performance (as did most of the world) be declaring, “You can’t sing, you can’t dance, so what do you want me to say?” William’s response, “I already gave my best, and I have no regrets at all.” William Hung went on to have a cult following. A couple created a website which received 4 million hits within its first week. He appeared on several TV programs: Jimmy Kimmel Live!, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Entertainment Tonight, The George Lopez Show, The Late Show with David Letterman, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Dateline NBC, Arrested Development and CBS’ The Early Show, as well as numerous commercials. Between the years of 2004 and 2005, he released three albums produced by Koch Entertainment. How DARE William believe he could have a career in music! Who did he think he was?

On April 11, 2009, a Scottish singer, whose plain appearance and awkward gate had judges and audience members trying to suppress laughter, walked onto the stage for Britain’s Got Talent. To say Susan Boyle was rough around the edges was an understatement. Do you know she had the NERVE to not just sing, but cause a standing ovation with her powerful voice and her version of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables. Although she didn’t win Britain’s Got Talent, her first album was released in November 2009 and debuted as the number one best-selling CD on charts globally. How DARE “Susie Simple” (as she was nicknamed by bullies growing up), believe in her dreams and watch them realized!

I could go on with examples of individuals who released songs and music videos, directed and produced documentaries and movies, and appeared on reality television with talent that ranged from none to decent. I could go on with examples of individuals who didn’t play by the rules and created multi-million dollar businesses that started, initially, in their homes. I could go on with examples of individuals who started over and created names for themselves. None of these individuals paid attention to the “correct order” of how things should progress, and they most certainly didn’t pay their dues. How DARE they have successful, prosperous, abundant, joy and love filled lives!

Now… What divine dreams, ideas, and goals do you have the AUDACITY to believe will be realized? It’s not enough to be audacious; you need to walk your talk! Are you sitting in the “waiting room” because you believe you either don’t deserve your dream or you haven’t suffered enough? Think about how many gifts and talents you have been blessed within your life. Most of us have no idea how they showed up, but there they are just the same. We put honoring and celebrating our uniqueness on the back burner.

How soon ‘not now’ becomes ‘never’. ~ Martin Luther

Have you ever been watching TV or reading the news and learned that someone you don’t even know took your idea! They just out and out stole it and then proceeded to create it into something extraordinary! You were going to get to it eventually!!! The Universe doesn’t wait forever. If you aren’t going to use your talents and ideas, it will get passed along to someone that will.

Instead of spending your time focused on the nerve of what you believe are talentless individuals manifesting their dreams, it’s time to hold yourself accountable. It is your time, so what are you going to do about it?

√ It’s time for you to think outside of the box and get creative.

√ It’s time to remember those moments were you felt brave and courageous and apply those elements to what you want to create now.

√ It’s time to discover and own your WOW factor.

√ It’s time to look at how you spend the hours in your day. Do your priorities even make the list?

√ It’s time to step outside of your comfort zone.

It is time for you to have the AUDACITY to be COURAGEOUS, EMPOWERED, DYNAMIC and FABULOUS!

  • Are you living in the “now”? Are you living with purpose?

Posted Apr 14th, 2011 By in Deliciously Fabulous You Retreat, Empower Your Day, Life Purpose, Love, Shifting Consciousness With | No Comments CountmeinHS

You create your thoughts, and your thoughts create your life. Do you like what you have created? Contemplate yourself each day and you will unravel the mystery of not only what you are but who you are. ~ Ron Rathburn

Whether we are making the conscious choice to transform our lives or feeling forced to change due to an unwanted transition (divorce, liberated from our job, etc), we need to stay centered and present in the “now”. Many of us worry about things we did a year ago, five months ago, even an hour ago. We worry about what is going to happen throughout the day, five months from now and a year from now. Too much mental clutter is swirling around in our heads, which distracts us from opportunities, receiving signs and signals that inspire creative ideas and action, and just enjoying the world at the very moment where we stand. We do create the thoughts that create our life, and it’s time that we stop, breathe and live with purpose.

Living in New York City for over 15 years, I have experienced the ultimate tests in multi-tasking and blocking out noise. In fact, I’ve often bragged to friends and family who live in other states how well I maneuver the streets of Manhattan, while answering emails, sending text messages, and listening to music. Now why in the world is this something to brag about? It’s not! Although I might have originally thought these were new skills I received since moving to New York City, when I went back in time, I realized just how few moments I actually lived in the present. In college, my dorm room door was opened, both the TV and radio were turned on, I would look up occasionally to say hello to a friend walking in the hall, all the while I was supposedly studying. Did I learn and receive knowledge? Sure. But I wonder just how much more would have been revealed if I allowed myself to live in the “now”.

Being present in the moment can feel scary for a number of reasons. First, we are pushed outside of our comfort zone. The idea of being silent verbally, within our minds and hearts, and blocking out external noise (which means removing the ear buds), allows us to hear guidance, receive experiences, and witness inspiration. Silence isn’t something I embraced for many years. My first go at it was a silent retreat over five years ago, and yes, my world changed and it did so quicker than I expected or wanted. I know I said I wanted to live my life purpose, find the love of my life, and create a business that supported the dreams and courage of others, but why oh why did you think I meant it needed to start right now?

√ When we live with purpose, we set daily intentions that propel us toward fulfilling days.

√ When we live in the “now”, we notice color, faces, and actually taste the food we are eating.

√ When we affirm living in the present, our hearts have opened to receive the good we deserve, as well as ways to give back using our gifts.

Think about how much time you spend a day worrying. Worrying is definitely a block and one that keeps us from creating and experiencing the world. One of my favorite quotes comes from Shantideva, a Buddhist scholar, “If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?” All of the answers you will ever need are already inside of you. When you are present in your Reality, you will awaken to a new “knowing” every single day. Instead of focusing on what might not happen, listen to the guidance that is there for you every day, which will lead you to answers, as well as the right and perfect people to help. I might not know corporate law, but I know that the answers I need to find the right law firm to represent my business exist within me.

Live with Purpose. Live in the “now”.

√ Start your day with an intention and affirmation centered on presence and focus.

√ Every hour stop, close your eyes and breathe for five minutes. Know the intention and affirmation you created.

√ Remove the ear buds. Turn off the car radio. Embrace the sights and sounds around you.

√ Don’t eat your meals in front of your computer while updating Facebook and Twitter or while sitting in front of the TV. Enjoy the taste of the food and appreciate the fuel it provides to your body, which allows you to keep moving toward the realization of your dreams.

√ Carry a small journal with you to record thoughts, ideas and new projects you’ve been inspired to create.

√ Keep a gratitude journal daily to recall all of the moments and experiences you are grateful to have received.

√ Ask yourself every day, What will I create today?

  • What is your personal mission and purpose statement?

Posted Apr 13th, 2011 By in Change, Deliciously Fabulous You Retreat, Empower Your Day, Life Purpose, Shifting Consciousness, Starting Over, The Balancing Act With | No Comments CountmeinHS

What you find in your mind is what you put there. Put good things in there. ~ Ron Rathbun

What we find in our mind, we’ve put there. If negative, self-doubt, self-criticizing and fear filled thoughts are cluttering your brain; there won’t be room for creative, positive and motivating ideas, feelings and judgments. “Put good things in there” sometimes feels easier said then done. Too many of us have perfected lack and limiting thoughts, as well as harmful beliefs, and the idea of shifting consciousness toward the alignment of our thoughts, words, actions, and emotions appears too much to ask. Instead of focusing on how in the world do I break another bad habit or life pattern, center on creating and practicing a new behavior. Have fun with celebrating you!

Each of us has a mission or life work that is our passion and/or purpose. Some people are in tuned to their journey and others feel lost and wish they knew the secret to discovering why they are here on this planet. Trust me, even those who believe they are aligned with their life purpose feel doubt from time to time. We all want 100% assurances. When the ego begins to take control of our thoughts, words, actions and emotions, it’s because we allow it. Yes, we need to hold ourselves accountable for the part we play. What can you do to make a difference in the creation of a life you love and deserve? Take the time to remember you!

What is your personal mission? So few of us take the time to consider what is important to us and how we want to see change occur. I know that when I am considering a collaborative project with another individual or company; I want to know their mission and vision statements. A solid brand focuses on their mission and vision and keeps it integrated with the business plan. Whether you own a business or not, you are a brand. Knowing, living and breathing your personal mission statement radiates outward. You will see personal and professional relationships change and grow. Some associations might dissolve to make room for those that support your goals, dreams, ideas, values and passions.

When we begin to look at our mission, some might discover that the ideas are very specific. You are interested in a certain type of counseling, law or artwork medium. Others appear to be more general: you are here to teach, write or speak. It doesn’t matter the form as long as you are offering your gift.

We arrived on this planet to be authentic. Our essence is our natural qualities ~ our spirit. We are unique. Have you noticed how some people exude a certain energy? They are kind, loving, powerful, and radiant. We might not know them personally and yet we still get a sense of who they are. Our life is a continual journey. It’s important to set an intention of presence, focus and living with purpose daily. This is how shifts in our thinking occur.

It’s time for you to create your mission and purpose statement. Your declaration will fit you perfectly. Stay centered on your authenticity.

There are three steps to a mission statement.

    1. Choose three meaningful, purposeful and exciting verbs (action words) that will shape your future.

√ What are you here to give and receive?
√ What are you passionate about?
√ What do you do naturally?
(Teach, Share, Lead, Speak, Communicate, Love, Create)

    2. Determine what you stand for in your life.

√ What are your core values?
    √ What are your principles?
    √ What are your ideals?
(Service, Justice, Freedom, Power, Joy, Abundance, Balance)

    3. Decide who or what you are here to help. The field, group or cause that you want to serve, be around, learn from inspire, or impact in a positive way.

√ All people, women, children, teens, animals
    √ Child Protection, Politics, Women’s Issues, Not-for-Profit
√ Journalism, Travel, Finance, Business, Fashion, Technology

The form should then look something like this:

    My mission is to:

    ______________________, _____________________, and _______________________ (three action words)

_______________________________ (your core value or values)

    to, for, or with

    ___________________________________________________________
(the interest, group, or cause that most excites or moves you)

Here is my personal mission and purpose statement:

To inspire, co-create, and support life dashes filled with discovery of personal truth, abundance, prosperity and wholeness for all who are courageous enough to demand it.

When I’ve challenged people to embrace this exercise, some defenses immediately come up. We balk at the idea of creating a mission statement that involves our receiving something wonderful. It can feel overwhelming to consider a task like this because we then might have to hold ourselves responsible. This is not a time to beat yourself up. Be gentle! Creating your mission and purpose statement shouldn’t happen in an hour. Give yourself a gift to begin now. Enjoy this process while you discover and recollect who and what you are.

  • Your “You Are” is not my “I AM”!

Posted Apr 12th, 2011 By in Deliciously Fabulous You Retreat, Empower Your Day, Love, Shifting Consciousness, The Balancing Act With | No Comments EmpoweredWoman

When I was growing up, I heard the following statements (often):

    • “You are so loud!”

    • “You are too loud!”

    • “Your laugh is loud!”

For many, many, many years I was self-conscious at the sound and level of my voice and laugh. I would cringe when people covered their ears or rolled their eyes. When teachers and mentors recommended that I try out for events or extra curricular activities that required my being in front of people speaking, i.e. debate, theater or public speaking, I politely declined. I developed a fear of using microphones because those devices would only make my voice louder. My taking ownership of their “You Are’s”, kept my light from shining for a long time. I didn’t listen to my heart, and I pushed deep down the divine gifts I had been blessed with because I attached the opinions of others as my own identity.

    • Take a moment to think about what you have allowed to attach itself to you as your “I AM”? Did the identity originate with you or did it come from someone else?

Accepting others’ opinions and attaching our “I AM” to those assessments is as harmful as initiating our own negative opinions of ourselves. Many times the naysayers in our life offer their commentary unsolicited, but there are many, many times where we ask the question: “So, what do you think of me?” We need to embrace and enjoy, with love, our celebrations, “A Ha!” moments and divine dreams. We do not need the validation or confirmation of our friends, family or (what I have coined) “others”.

It’s hard! I understand how it feels to want to share the joy we are experiencing, as well as to have the people who matter in our lives confirm what we want. It’s like having that many more points on our side! Allow yourself to own and love what ideas and dreams have come to you first. This is an exciting time! There’s no need to rush forward because everything is just beginning to take shape. Second, not everyone is going to have your same level of excitement. Have you ever had someone happy for you, but you wished they were happier? Be mindful of where you are sharing your pearls and why.

Opening our hearts to divine inspiration and the knowing that we deserve to have a life we love can feel selfish ~ especially when the “giving” usually comes from us. There was a time when the word vulnerable and allowing ourselves to be vulnerable was considered negative. Romance novels and chick flicks stereotyped the vulnerable woman as needy. Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and to FEEL life is a gift. You are brave, courageous, authentic and both the receiver and giver of love.

Trust in your still small voice. Listen to your heart. Play. Discover. Explore. Research and test your dreams and watch yourself grow. The “You Are’s” of others are not your “I Am”.

  • What are you “I Am’ing”?

Posted Apr 11th, 2011 By in Deliciously Fabulous You Retreat, Empower Your Day, Life Purpose, Love, Shifting Consciousness, Starting Over, The Balancing Act With | No Comments CountmeinHS

When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. ~ Lao Tzo

Two of the tiniest words in the English language are actually the BIGGEST and most POWERFUL in the world. When we combine these two words, we create the smallest, yet MIGHTIEST, sentence. Few people are conscious of the impact these words have and how, with the help of the creative energies of the Universe, form and shape the circumstances and events of our lives. Together these two words are impersonal and universal; however, we CAN and DO personalize them with human expression. These two words are our ACTUAL identity, but far too often we show complete disregard and attach claims of negativity ~ self-doubt, self-criticism. These two words: I AM.

So, what are you “I AM’ing”? Take a moment to think about how you use the words I AM in your every day conversations with another person, as well as your internal thoughts.

    • I am so afraid of failing.
    • I am unsuccessful.
    • I am too old to find love, to start over, and to discover my life purpose.
    • I am NEVER going to see my dreams realized.
    • I am pulled in ten different directions every day and there’s no time for me so why bother?

Do any of the above AFFIRMING statements, and indeed those were AFFIRMATIONS, sound familiar? Have you heard yourself share those words or similar ideas, with another person? Do you hold onto thoughts like these throughout your day? We need to become aware of how powerful our affirmative statements truly. People often associate affirmations with positive statements of truth, and yes, they can be. It’s important to recognize that an affirmation doesn’t have to be positive. Words that we put together and state with authority, energy, emotion and belief are affirmations. Yes, your negatively charged affirmative statements are just as powerful as those that support who and what you REALLY are.

Remember that the words “I AM” reflect your ACTUAL identity ~ the Truth, with a capital “T”, of who you are. To understand the true power of the words “I AM”, it’s important to understand what their meaning translates into:

    • It is my essence to be
    • It is my nature to be

With this meaning, our I AM statements translate into:

It is my essence to be a failure.
It is my nature to never see my dreams realized.
It is my essence to be frantic and never find time for myself.
It is my nature to never discover my life purpose.

YUCK! Reading those I AM statements translated gives me the shivers and not the good kind! It feels as if there is a thick coat of ICK on my skin waiting to be scrubbed away. When we use our I AM statements negatively, we not only claim something we don’t want, but we are identifying ourselves with something that can in NO WAY EVER be our essence or nature!

Our beliefs are very much tied into our I AM statements. Our beliefs are a choice, and just like affirmations, we can choose to believe in the positive or the negative. We can choose to believe in despair or we can choose to believe in inspiration. We can choose to believe in failure or we can choose to believe in limitless opportunities. Belief will draw to us whatever we believe in and our I AM statements draw to us what we are claiming as our identity. What we voice after the words I AM reflects our current state of consciousness. It reflects our own idea of ourselves, and what we believe will eventually be projected into our world. This is the HUMAN EXPRESSION of the I AM statement. So the questions are: what are you believing and what are you I Am’ing?

Have you ever gone to an event that required a nametag? After you check in, you go toward the table with the badges and scroll through looking for your name. My first name is spelled with one “l”, and I can count on one hand the number of times my name was correct. As I hold the badge in my hand, I know it’s not right. I don’t recognize the name, and while I know it truly isn’t me, I pin it on anyway. I wear the badge all day and those who don’t know me see a version that is incorrect. This is EXACTLY what it is like when we claim negatively charged affirmations as our truth. They don’t feel right because they aren’t right. They feel wrong because they are wrong!

Here’s what I know to be true regarding the I AM statement. When we finish an I AM statement with anything that is negative, it WILL NEVER BE TRUE. It can’t be. Our actual identities, our true selves, are nothing short of extraordinary. Now trust me, I’ve had many people discuss my beliefs and philosophies. I’ve heard things like, “I hear what you’re saying Michele, but sometimes life happens. Sometimes I am lazy and unproductive. Sometimes I am a failure and unsuccessful. And you know what Michele, I feel angry. I feel frustrated. I feel like what in the world is wrong with me.” Guess what? If you have ever said those words to yourself (or to me), that is your A HA moment ~ WE FEEL!

It is 100% possible to feel lazy, unproductive, and unsuccessful. It is 100 % possible to feel like a failure. It is 100% possible to feel angry, frustrated and like there is something wrong with us. Feelings are transitory and they can change. Feelings do not direct who you are or what you are. They have no say in your actual identity.

It’s time we pay attention to the words we choose and how we use them. We need to make a conscious choice to align our thoughts, words, actions and emotions toward the realization of who and what we are… our TRUE Identity. Our I AM. One of my favorite quotes is from Lao Tzo: When I let go of what I AM, I become what I might be.

√ When I let go of what I AM (the human I AM which is layered with old tapes, negative beliefs and false realities), I become what I might be (my authentic, true identity).

What are you read to create with your positively charged I AM statements? It is time for you to CLAIM your truth, OWN your truth, LIVE your truth and ROCK your truth. It is time for you to CELEBRATE and HONOR who and what you are.
